While at Nichols College, I took a part time job at the local Boys & Girls club in Dudley Massachusetts. Here, I worked with children from a variety of backgrounds on their homework and various other projects especially mathematics in which I specialize in. Many of these children were living in more challenging home environments, sometimes lacking a father and or living in a troubled neighborhood. My textbook strengths would anything math, finance, accounting, and business related. More importantly, my best asset regarding tutoring would be my ability to adapt my teaching to the child's needs and learning style. I have worked with younger children teaching simple arithmetic and with college students/recent grads teaching them auditing and accounting concepts. With younger children, I have used games, flash cards, and blocks to have them practice their math problems. I find this keeps a child energetic and enthusiastic. I am also very familiar with the "touch-point" system, an effective strategy in learning how to add numbers.
