Every student is unique and has different ways of doing things. In a swimming pool, you can see physical improvements in technique which ultimately improves performance. In teaching, it is different. It is sometimes very difficult to see the "light bulb" go on when a student finally grasps a new concept. I take different approaches in different situation to help students achieve results.

A Little Bit About Me...

I was homeschooled for the majority of my education which enabled me to assit my younger brothers and sisters in their studies. I taught a few Science classes including botony and a study of birds and have tutored in highschool math as well. I played volleyball, took 3 years of piano, and was a member of Chior as well. I worked as a teachers aide in a preschool for 2 years. I worked with children from the age of 6 weeks to 5 years. I plan on going to college for either business or diognostic sonography.
I love working with kids of all ages. All children are unique and they all learn in different ways. A Little Bit About Me...

I was an exceptionally driven high school student, taking the most difficult schedule my small private school would offer. My course work included AP calculus and AP US government, on both exams I received good marks. In college I studied a wide variety of classes in pursuit of a degree in the liberal arts. Free and unconstrained autobiographical writing is one of the best ways to coax a student insecure about his or her writing skills into putting into words intense experiences from their own life. I tell my students to just tell me in their own words what they are trying to say. When they speak aloud, the words flow, and then I say, "There is your opening sentence right there. Quick! Write it down." At other times, I ask them to pretend that they are really someone else, an actor in a television show, for example, and I have them imagine that the character, not they themselves, are speaking. This releases the student to let go of inhibitions and let the film roll "for the character" and then they stop focusing on themselves.
