My teaching style is that I determine how best the student learns through observation and direct incouragement, instilling confidence for them to break through all barriers. Making learning fun is always more enjoyable for both students and tutors! I would develop a great rapport with my student(s) and create incentives to stretch the mind and promote creativity. A Little Bit About Me...

I was a community college English teacher for 12 years at Vista Community College in Berkeley, CA (now Berkeley City College). I taught in a special program tailored to working adults who had returned to school in order to earn their Associate of Arts degrees. This was not an academically confident population. They required enormous encouragement, personal attention, and coaching. I was very successful in this position because I was willing to talk with students on the phone, meet with them after class, and even respond to their essays at length on cassette tapes--my own idea!
My approach to teaching is to provide what is needed, and sometimes that is not limited to the explicit task at hand.
