My teaching style consists of finding that unique style that will suit each individual student. Growing up, I noticed that it was very hard for certain students to grasp certain concepts because they were not engaged in the teaching method. It is no secret that everyone learns a certain way, and no two ways are ever the same. I believe that my patience, my calm demeanor, and habit of wanting to make learning something fun rather than a job has certainly helped me in my education. I first question the students in what they already know to see the areas that need less instruction. Then I ask them problems from their school texts and see how they do. This will give me some knowledge of where the student is failing and the area that needs more support. I then ask them at the session's end if they learned something and how that makes them feel. This is most important because if the student does not feel that they are learning and what the knowledge can be used for, they will loose interest and not pay attention in class. This is why many fail technical courses because unlike other subjects, math and science builds upon itself so if you do not learn the basics first, the next topics will be harder to grasp.

I do not believe that a student will stay involved if they are not actively engaged. Math is somewhat different. From my tutoring experience in college, I have learned that everyone has a different learning style. In order to be an excellent tutor, one needs to adapt to their tutee’s needs. One also needs to be patient with their tutee. It is very important to be able to explain a problem in several different ways in case the first few ways do not make sense to the tutee. I believe that the best way for a student to learn is through practice and determination.
