I believe if we can integrate content with cross-curricular themes and skills such as writing across the curriculum in all subjects, not just during the language arts block, All students can access prior knowledge and reframe their thinking when appropriate. My passion is the arts. I have explored a variety of areas including fibers, painting, drawing, 3-D, mixed media, collage, clay, graphic design, etc. Skills from all academic areas are used in the arts from math to history. I am currently attending the University of Maine in order to receive my Masters of Arts in Teaching for Secondary Education in Life Science. I am currently certified as and Ed. Tech 3 in the state of Maine and will be receiving my teaching certificate when I graduate in June, 2010. I have worked with children often over the last few years but most recently I have acted as a tutor (for most subjects) for Penobscot County Job Corps in Bangor, Maine and as a student teacher in the Oakland, Maine school system.
