My comments on tutoring Biology : Proficient in teaching biology to college freshmen to high school students

With two masters in chemistry field i have five years of experience teaching students in the fields of organic chemistry and general chemistry. I was a teaching assistant at university of north texas for a class of 90 students. I assisted in conducting classes, preparation of lesson plans, grading and proctoring exams. I helped students understand the difficult/tough to understand concepts by emphasis of fundamentals. I received many positive feed backs from the students which i can provide upon request.

Let's learn it together =-)

Currently, I am a student attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. At UT, I am majoring in Microbiology and maintaining a 3.18 GPA. During my education, I have had great opportunities to study the sciences and mathematics; however, history and philosophy are fun to study as well. In my studies of science, I have studied through all introductory biology and chemistry classes including both sections of organic chemistry. My mathematic studies have taken me from Algebra to Differential Equations and Calculus 3 (Multi-Variable). I enjoy interacting with students of all ages and levels in a variety subject matter. Generally, I am easy going and can schedule easily unless it interferes with a work shift or school class. Thank you for reviewing this statement and I look forward to the opportunity to tutor you! A Little Bit About Me...

While enrolled in Anatomy and Physiology, my professor asked if I would be interested in becoming a tutor in the class. At that moment, I felt both a strong desire to help others and the fear of letting others down. I accepted the tutoring position because my passion for learning and helping others won out. I have had several opportunities over the last few years to help my co-workers with their adult education and not only am I able to help, they always return to me when they need more help.
I try to use as many resources as are available. What I mean is, in the Anatomy and Physiology labs there were models available to look at. I’ve used molecular models in Organic Chemistry for chemical structure. Sometimes asking a question can start the process of learning. A lot of it depends on the subject matter and the student involved. I try to remain open in my efforts to help others.

More About This Tutor...

I loved the subject of biology at a very early age. However, it was my educators in high school and college that helped guide me towards a career in biology. As an undergraduate laboratory instructor, I found that one of my strengths included passing on difficult knowledge in an easy to understand way. Teaching an introductory to biology laboratory helped me gain new approaches to instruction because all of the students were non-biology majors and did not have a background in science. My goal as an instructor is to make the sciences a fun learning experience, and one that it is easily understood.
As an undergraduate, I taught a cell biology laboratory and an introduction to biology laboratory. As a laboratory instructor, I learned appropriate ways to teach the subject of biology and to test students' knowledge of biology. My background in the sciences and my courses in commun ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry followed by a Master's degree in plant pathology and have a passion for biology, math, and statistics. I have had lifelong leadership experience working with children ages 9 through 18, first as a camp counselor in high school and later as a tutor in biology, chemistry, basic math, and algebra. Several years into a research oriented academic career I began to miss teaching opportunities and have since sought a career change that will allow me to teach others.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had extensive and varied work experience in both field and laboratory-based biology: I have worked as both an environmental and zoological researcher, and in the fields of genetics, microbiology and botany. My bachelor's degree in biology has focused primarily on organismal and environmental sciences, but I am well-versed in a suite of other subjects, not only among the life sciences. Copious writing assignments during my college career, along with regular consultation of published scientific literature, has versed me in the understanding of research approaches, along with a knowledge of the standards expected in any scientific endeavor. Beyond this, I simply love science, and enjoy passing along this enthusiasm to others.
What I have learned in my tutoring experience is that every individual has their own learning style - thus, I work with those tutored to find what means ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

When teaching, I want to instill in each child a love for learning. I do this, first of all, by setting the mood of the classroom - meaning, I make it conducive for learning with an attitude of happiness and respect for each child; believing that I can find attributes that I like about each child, and making the atmosphere pleasant, cozy, and fun. Secondly, I instill the class rules with positive outcomes so the environment is always positive. Usually this takes about a week of consistency, then my class is ready to take off! Once they know the rules, know you are going to be consistent, and enjoy coming to your classroom, then, learning is fun!
