A Little Bit About Me...

As a private tutor, I give lessons to students whose ages range from thirteen to adult, and whose level varies from beginner to advanced. I teach mostly conversational, and as we progress, I introduce basic grammar. Those who are already taking French in school or in college and need to come up to speed on their current curriculum can also benefit from my tutoring. I work with the textbook and help with the understanding of the lessons through various exercises.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have noticed a couple things in my years tutoring people in math. I have noticed that many people have trouble with the fundamental concepts of fractions, decimals, order of operations, and adding/subtracting positive and negative numbers. If a student does not have these concepts together much of the 'higher level' mathematics can seem a blur and highly confusing. I have also noticed that students like real world or relevant examples when learning a new math concept. I like to find out what my student is into and tailor problems to things that affect their every day life. Practical real world examples can significantly increase a students retainment of concepts. I also make it a point to keep the learning environment positive and upbeat.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent university graduate with a bachelor of science degree in French Education K-12 (major) and a minor in German. I have completed one year of teaching in Howard County Public Schools in Maryland. I have been an active reading, math, and English as a foreign language tutor since 2003 and have completed various student teaching experiences.
After completing a year as a teacher I realized that what I liked about teaching is the actual teaching part. Unfortunately for me, most of what was involved with being a teacher for me included tasks other than teaching, which was not what I had expected. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very versatile. I think the best way to teach is to first assess the areas that need the most work, and then devise a simple, logical approach to help the student understand the material. Some students learn visually, others learn by repetition. It takes a lot of adaptation to make sure the student really grasps the ideas.
I was the salutatorian of my high school class. I excelled in every subject, and was a member of the tutoring club. I also tutored my cousin, who has Down Syndrome, helping him with his summer school work, including literature, handwriting, math, and Spanish. I majored in Art at the Pennsylvania State University. I also took many different courses in Art and Art History, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography.
