I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. My classmates gave me the nickname "Webster" because I was frequently asked to edit their papers and to tutor them in several different subjects. I love working with teenagers, and watching their faces change when they really GET a concept for the first time!
I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. Using techniques like appropriate background music, brief stretch breaks, having the children read to Sierra, my golden retriever, are all techniques that I would like to use. Teaching children would be a joy and very rewarding. I had trouble learning to read when I was young until I attended Mrs. Bird's class. She took the time to meet with me one-on-one and taught me to read and changed my life in the process.
