My teaching style is highly influenced by the type of student that I teach. As a teacher of deaf students, my teaching must be very visual and hands-on. I find this lends itself well to teaching students who might be struggling in a regular classroom environment as well. I always begin by activating any prior knowledge a student might have in a given area, then establishing the goals that need to be met, engaging the child with relevant activities, and going from guided instruction to independent practice.
Since beginning college in 1994, I have been involved with teaching and/or tutoring students, hearing and deaf. My experience teaching ranges from preschool to high school, typically developing children to those with disabilities, from impoverished and affluent areas. I love helping children learn. I am very patient and considerate. The most rewarding feeling is knowing that you helped someone. I believe that the skills we learn throughout grade school help us persevere later in life. When I was in grade school I had difficulty articulating my words and was placed into speech therapy. Looking back, I am eternally thankful for those mentors and teachers whom helped me succeed.
I have obtained two B.A.'s within the past 6 years. I have extensive study in all subjects. My best subjects are math, science, and social studies.
