A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with many different children on many different academic levels. Through my experiences, I have found that any student can be successful. It is my job as an educator to find the style of learning that will benefit each child I work with. Every child is special and all have the potential to excel in academics if given the right tools to work with.
I began tutoring while in high school. I worked with children in Kindergarten and First Grade. I continued tutoring children through two Americorps terms with Communities In Schools in Ardmore, Oklahoma. While in college, I worked as a substitute teacher for the elementary schools in the Ardmore area. Since my graduation from Southeaster Oklahoma State University I substituted on all grade levels from pre-k to 12th grade for 2 years. I long-term substituted first grade from January to May of 2008 and 5th grade from April to May of 2007. I also taught 5th grade Science for the school year of 2008-2009. Substituting has enabled me to see the different learning styles and behaviors of many different types of children. I use this knowledge whenever stepping into unfamiliar classes and use it to my advantage.
