My comments on tutoring Chinese : I am a native Cantonese speaker and attended a Chinese school from age 4 to 14 whose curriculum emphasized in traditional Chinese language, e.g. Confucianism, Menjianism, Liji, Analects and other traditional Chinese philosophers, Chinese history, Calligraphy. All classes were conducted in Mandarin, the official language of China. So I am also proficient in speaking Mandarin.

One day I found out he did not take notes in class. I advised him to take notes but he did not follow. I was worried about him and took his notebook and wrote up for him.
