I developed a heart for young people at an early age, as my parents were missionaries to Native Americans. I truly believe that education has changed my life and promote higher education. I am able to relate to children of all ages and in the past two years especially related to high school and young college students who were looking for their way in life. I have worked in a higher education environment since 2000. I tuaught CPR and First Aid classes for 4 years for Child Care providers from 1996 to 2000. I am one class from completing my MBA in accounting. I will officially graduate in May of 2010.

Many students struggle in school for a variety of reasons, and I strive to make sure that each student’s educational needs are met in order for the student to achieve his/her maximum potential. I began my teaching career after 10 years in another field. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and a Master’s degree in Education. I have 5 years of teaching experience both at the high school and community college level. As an English teacher, I have extensive experience with all aspects of Language Arts, including grammar, research, and writing skills.

I have the ability to diagnose learning weaknesses in a student, effectively plan a course to re mediate the student's learning weakness, implement a set of steps to assist the student to take the weakness and turn it to a strength building upon already mastered skills, and evaluate the success of the student's efforts and move on or re-teach based upon the student's needs. I have the ability to motivate learners so that they have fun accomplishing the goals set before them. But I am at the same time very task orientated and use a lot of behavior modification techniques in my approach. As a graduate student at Kansas State University I have learned the value of education.
