Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have taught Adult English ESOL at an education center in Hillsborough County. I taught students from many different countries, backgrounds, and who spoke different languages. English is one of my top subjects! I will graduate with my B.A. in English.

My teaching style is student centered. I believe that in order for the student to grasp the material the lesson needs to be meaning for them. The authoritative teacher is not me. I like to be flexible making accommodations for the student so that they will have an open room to learn, because every student doesn’t learn the same way.
