Upon graduating with a BA in International Affairs and Spanish in the Spring of 2003, I traveled to India to work in an orphanage and school for orphaned and underpriviledged children. For six months, I taught a wide range of subjects, including Reading, Writing, History, Social Sciences and Math in a small classroom setting (10-30 students). Last summer, I traveled to Guatemala and Mexico to work in an orphanage for abused children, to where I also returned for the past Christmas break. In the orphanage, I tutored children on a one-to-one basis in Math, English, and Reading. While living overseas in both Ukraine and Mexico I taught ESL through a non-profit organization for 4 1/2 years. In addition to teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes to students of all ages, I did extensive one on one tutoring with students, and eventually conducted all new teacher training. In Ukraine I volunteered at an orphanage where I taught Bible lessons to children who suffered with mental illnesses, learning disabilities, and other consequences of severe abuse. During my four years at Notre Dame, I majored in mathematics and gained alot of experience in various areas of math.
