LOVE TO TEACH!!

I am beginning my 14th year of teaching. I have taught from 3rd to 6th grade, with a heavy focus on Reading and Language. I also taught Adult Literacy classes and have worked as the Reading Specialist at our school which involved working with teachers on best practice in Reading Instruction. I missed my "babies" and went back into the classroom and have never looked back. I also taught the 4 modes of writing to our 5th graders in order to prepare them for The Alabama Direct Assessment of Writing.
I have a calm, loving environment in my classroom. I expect the best from my students and they never let me down. I play classical music during their work time and allow them to work in partners, groups, and individually daily. I have been writing for my whole life, and have a love of the art that is description. Since Mich of humanity's understanding is based on metaphor, description and its subtleties is a key part of any writing process, be it creative or instructional.My favorite form of writing is creative, however I also enjoy writing essays and other pieces based on fact. No matter what form of writing you endeavor to do, getting your point across through description is paramount. I have placed and won poetry contests, and have written many essays of undergraduate and graduate levels.

I have spent most of my life in an academic environment. I thrive on success- not only my own, but also the success of others around me. I became a substitute teacher in order to gain experience as a classroom leader. Tutoring is a necessary duty of an educator.
