The reason I chose to go to school for my teaching certificate is that I've always been passionate about learning. I think the best teachers are excited to constantly learn new things. My teaching style is hands-on as often as possible. Students remember very little information taught to them in a lecture format. I try to use manipulatives such as blocks, especially when teaching a subject like math or science. I am very patient and flexible and I love to smile. A Little Bit About Me...

As a Social Worker I came in contact with young adults who have dropped out of school because of becoming young parents, drug use, and or a lack of support from parents. My initial contact was to address child abuse and or neglect but I quickly recognized the bigger picture included their inability to process information because of a lack of education. I started a parenting class to give them a safe place to start looking at these issues.
I teach so I can empower the individule to create a goal that can be attained. I have a stregth based approach, which gives the one I am teaching a positive outlook at what they can achieve. A Little Bit About Me...

I have work with special education student, as well as advance placement student. I have only noticed one difference with each group and that is the pace that the classroom goes in. Although I enjoy working with small groups or one on one with student I believe that I am able to work with more then ten students at a time. I really try to let the kids explain to me how they interoperate the dictation first and then help them a long. I let all the students do as much as they can on their own, I believe is the best way to assists a child which I have done volunteering at the Land L Learning center, I worked with young age group going into first and six grade to help them get up to grade level in reading.
