I love to teach by arousing the thinking faculty of my students with questions that makes them think in the line of the subject. Use of illustrations, applying the subject being discussed to real life situations, one that students can relate with, is a very handy tool for me and has worked very well over the years. All children are students; they can learn. The question is how best do they learn? I have used many differing styles from rote memorization through self-paced self-education. I encourage students to see the wonder and "mystery" (there really isn't any mystery) of Math, regardless of the level, in the real world. To that aid, I try to present real world problems at levels the student can understand. For lower level students, I investigate with them the development of the linear equations involved in setting up a relationship between two factors. A higher level student would solve multiple linear equations. A height vs. time linear relationship then can become quadratic, thus involving sports as an application.
