I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. My academic record is very strong, and I believe empowering those I work with every single time. The only pre-requisites are that you have to be willing to learn, and learn how to learn.
I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. A Little Bit About Me...

I grew up in Jamaica and my formal years of education were under the british system. This sytem was very student friendly and much emphasis was placed on learning and not testing. I have earned a Bachelors degree double major in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of the West Indies Jamaica. A masters degree in Science Education 5-12 from Western Governors University Utah. I also completed my teacher education requirements at University of North Carolina Pembroke. I approach every student as a unique individual with his or her own struggles. In general, I teach mathematics in a direct and simple way. I do not treat the subject as a game or a bag of tricks. I like working with children of all ages. I believe that children of all ages and cultural backgrounds can learn if given a proper chance. I even managed to teach children in South Korea, when I didn't speak Korean at all and my students had limited English skills. I taught them through games and use of our workbooks and student books. I believe in making learning a fun experience with lots of games and an easy going manner. If the kid is bored or unhappy, it is going to make it much harder for the child to learn. I try to also reach my students at the level where they are at. If a student is at a lower level of understanding, I will start with them there and slowly challenge and build them to a higher level.
