I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. It doesn't matter what they don't know because I believe anyone can be taught anything, at least as long as you have the right teacher and materials at your disposal. I believe students are like little sponges. They're taking in everything around them. Obviously, if you fill their heads with garbage, they will learn garbage. However, if you fill their heads with quality information, you explain it in a way that they understand, and you make it fun for them to learn, then they will learn everything you're trying to teach. Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education.
