Every person has the ability to learn! I have found the key is to establish a rapport with each student, and then find the method that works best for them. Some students learn better by hearing the concept. It is helpful for them to first have a conversation about what the subject matter is, and how it is used, and then proceed to the actual lessons. Other students excel when they see the concept first, and learn best through visual aids. I've been working with children since the day I got my first job. I don't know if it is the fact that I am the oldest of 6, or if it is just in my blood to teach . My first job was at a very small day care that consisted of about 14 kids, ages 1 to 12 . I helped the older children with their homework and with the younger children, our day consisted of fun learning games . I also worked at Unlimited Tutoring for 3 years, there I helped tutor children ages 6 to 15 in Math, Reading, English, and History.
In all my years of teaching, I came to the realization that every child is different . When it comes to teaching, I like to learn a little about the child first. Then once I know everything I need to know, I go by what interests the child and I use that to teach them .
