In all my years of teaching, I came to the realization that every child is different . When it comes to teaching, I like to learn a little about the child first. Then once I know everything I need to know, I go by what interests the child and I use that to teach them . Although sometimes it is not as simple, I do what ever it is that I have to do to ensure that the child is learning .
I've been working with children since the day I got my first job. I don't know if it is the fact that I am the oldest of 6, or if it is just in my blood to teach . My first job was at a very small day care that consisted of about 14 kids, ages 1 to 12 . I helped the older children with their homework and with the younger children, our day consisted of fun learning games . A Little Bit About Me...

I like to gauge where the student is then go from there. If a student is having a problem, I try to see where there might be a gap in the backround knowledge, then fill it in, or if there is a problem in their processing of the information, I try to correct it. I do this fairly quickly. I'm typically able to tell just from a student's eyes as they look at a problem or how quickly they approach it, if they're having a problem. If I've worked with them for a while, I'm frequently able to know exactly what that problem is without them even saying it. I try to break the problem down into smaller parts, so it's more understandable to the student. Then we put it back together to see how those parts relate to the problem as a whole. I am a recent Bachelor of Arts graduate with a double major in Philosophy and Political Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, NJ.
