I’ve been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to try several different content areas such as Special Education 7th grade Science in a Push-In model, ESOL, Home and Careers, Career and Financial Management as well as substitute teaching in many areas K-12, in addition to teaching technology in multiple districts. I love to work with children of any age. I have been volunteering for over 15 years helping wherever and whenever I can to help make the lives of children more enriched. I have two boys of my own (age 10 and 14) and have been successful in helping them achieve the best they can. I have been teaching kids as a substitute for many years and went back to school in my middle 30's to become a teacher. Unfortunately the availability of teaching positions in my area has prevented me from full time employment but I've kept myself busy subbing and working with young adults and those with disabilities further their educational needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am qualified to tutor writing, basic computer, reading, basic math, learning, biology, organic chemistry, genetics, geography, and various exams, all from college-level experiences. I had a scientific book in Barnes and Noble, ample graduate-level coursework in Education, experience as a High School teacher, and lived abroad. I have a B.S. in plant biotech from Cornell.
I enjoy earnest and humble students, learning with and from them. I feel uncomfortable not learning laterally as well as vertically, seeing that to be knowledgeable, one must not just memorize but ruminate on what was memorized, making as many lateral connections as expedient. I like to simply direct and expand a student's learning as opposed to an artifactual accomplishment; however, my premiere obligation is punctual achievement of task.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching and working with children not only educates them but it educates myself in the process. I get to touch up on materials that the children are learning, as well as learn better ways to educate students. Patience is what I believe is the most important aspect of teaching. Children can become unfocused very easily. When children are distracted it may be very difficult to get them focused. Taking your time and making sure they refocus, can actually save time. If they are unfocused and miss a part of what is instructed, they will be confused throughout the whole process. It helps to be patient with the educating process. These educators who take the time to make sure everything is understood make a huge difference in each student.
