Research shows students who fail often have less background knowledge, remember less, their attention wanders and they lack automaticity, the ability to recall basic facts. I was brought up by both of my parents, which I am lucky to say they are both teachers. After I was born my mother stayed a housewife, but my father kept on studying, and teaching at many levels.
