I love teaching and working with all ages. I believe that every student can achieve their full potential if given the needed encouragement, skills, and time. I teach with patience, gentle prodding and creativity. I try to understand a students learning style, as well as difficulties, and then find the best methods to help them achieve their academic goals.
I graduated with a 3.9 from Whitworth College in 1979. I taught a 1st/2nd grade class for three years. My teaching certificate is not current. I home schooled my 4 children- the oldest through 8th grade. My second son had a learning disability. I spent many hours researching the best methods of teaching him to read. A Little Bit About Me...

I attended Heritage University for 3.5 years in pursuit of my Nursing degree. I have taken College math, written many college papers, and studied alot of science along the way. I also cordinated a mentor program through YVCC for almost two years. I have recently changed paths and with obtain my BA in criminal justice in less than a year. I changed paths after the sudden death of my mother just over a year ago.
I learn in the most unheard of ways, and every childs learning style is different from the other, but that is what makes learning so fun. I aim for success and my mentoring experience for first year college students makes me a firm believer in meeting individual goals. I enjoy working with children! I am patient and kind. I also have high standards and believe that everyone can reach their own potential. I celebrate the little sucesses! Part of my previous job entailed "independent work" from the students for about 2 1/2 hours each day. During this time I would work one on one with each student. This was a good challenge because everyone was working on a different level! It was exciting.
