A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with children. There is nothing better to me then seeing a student discover something new and being excited to learn. I am a new teacher and my goal will be to include several hands-on experiences in my classroom. Part of my philosophy is to give students choice when it comes to producing a product. Everyone learns differently so it is important to have activities that fit each individual learning style. I look forward in touching many students lives.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been interested in teaching others, in particular, teaching children with special needs. The majority of my experience teaching is teaching children with special needs including many children with autism. The degrees I have earned in Psychology and Special Education have allowed me to gain an understanding in many areas, including social sciences, education, science, social studies, etc. I also have learned many grammatical skills due to writing research papers and various reports and essays in various areas of study. I am eager to further my experience and help people by tutoring.

I think it is important to understand that everyone can learn, however it is just a matter of how long it takes. Kids learn at different paces. They may need to be shown a different way to learn. For example, I believe that children learn to read by understanding the book,through meaning. It's important to discuss what is happening in the book. I have a guided reading lesson plan that tells me exactly what I need to work on with that student. Is the student looking at the pictures to help him/her with a word? etc.. I am very patient and kind. I love working with kids and seeing their faces light up when they have achieved certain goals.
