I am a mother of 3 wonderful daughters, my oldest daughter studied Wholistic Medicine and practices in the New York area. My middle child, succesfully completed studies in the nursing field; and my youngest daughter is currently a senior in high school. I have spent most of my adult years studying in the field in which I now understand "Chose me". It truly has been a passion to work with so many children ranging from as young as 12 months to young adult age. I diligently seeked other elect areas of interest, but seem to always find my way back to special education. You know when your path is chosen when it comes natural to do what it is that you do. My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I am very patient and know how to take time to break down and help challenged children with their work from experiences . As my brother and my sister both ADHA and ADD I had to take classes and join groups to become better.

I teach or Tutor accordingly to the age group I'm with.I have been in many tutor groups and shared with in the work. But I always take my time and ensure that the person knows what is being taught before moving on to the next material.
I went to college and obtained a degree in Fine Arts ,I've had many paintings and works shown in the galleries . But my main reasoning for going to college was not to learn how to but to become better and merge my self in the depths of art. Fine arts is a career that is opened to many forms of art besides drawing and painting ,such as sculpting and printmaking , but the main one is the knowledge and skill.I feel that have it all and and if You let me i can teach you to enjoy and take in as much as I did when i was learning.

Experienced and Proactive Educator

I believe that competence and confidence are BOTH important in learning. Students bring their own knowledge and learning styles to the process. It is the teachers job not only to adapt instructional style to best support the learner, but also to help the student understand his or her own learning style and needs.
Experienced and New York State Certified teacher. I have over 10 years experience teaching students in grades 1-12 and 5 years experience teaching adults. I also have extensive tutoring experience. I have an MA from Marist College as well as a BA from NYU. Bringing fun and learning together to achieve success!

Many years of experience teaching, working, and tutoring children of all ages. Every child learns in a different way. I want to be able to find the best way and help children have fun while learning. It is important to establish what learning method works best for a child before teaching can take place. A child will be successful if they are having fun and learning in a style that they feel comfortable with.
Hands on learning, use of technology, books, group learning, creative role play of different ways to solve problems.

I have taught in the education field since 1999. I am very fortunate to have had the privilege of working with a multitude of learners in a variety of environments. Early in my career I worked with adults that were mentally and physically challenged. Enthusiastic, highly motivated educator.

I was employed by the Lakeland Central School District as a substitute Teacher Aide and later in a full time capacity. I worked for the OASIS Program and later at the Alternative High School. After completing my Bachelor's Degree at Concordia College, I applied for and was accepted into the New York City Teaching Fellows Program. I taught Special Education at a high needs urban high school in the Bronx. This was a challenging and rewarding experience. Many of my students continued on to post secondary schools. I am an English Graduate from SUNY New Paltz and have a broad range of interests. My time as an English student has taught me to use more critical research and analytical skills. I am hoping my degree will enable me to help others to improve their passion for writing and reading, not just teach them how to approach/explicate or write about a work, but to really find enjoyment in it and relate it to their own life in some way. I have written numerous research papers in many different areas of study (English, Chemistry, Math, Philosophy, Psychology, etc.) and have tutored Mandarin students in English at SUNY Ulster.
I am a strong believer that we all have our own way of learning and it is important to be flexible to the needs of each individual. I have worked as a Counselor for Disabled Adults and see that no matter where a person is developmentally, there is a way to help them ac ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a teaching assistant for four years, while completing my Master's Degree. During this time I also did several leave replacements. I currently teach English Language Arts for 10th and 12th grade special education students. The students are emotionally and learning disabled.
The one word I would use to describe my teaching style is flexible. If something is not working and my students are not getting what I'm trying to teach I change my lesson plan mid-stream. Each student learns differently, and each class learns differently. It is my job to ensure all of their learning styles are achieved.
