After high school I achieved a BS from George Peabody College for teacher, however did not teach for money until many years later after I received my MS. My work in clinical psychology has been mostly with children, the severely mentally ill, and abuse cases. My last full time position was teaching high school material in a one room school to students who were wards of the state. I taught anger management for the local courts for eight years. Now I teach parenting classes for divorcing couples for the Giles County court. I also occasionally teach a seminar for attorneys on body language.
As both a teacher and a counselor I have worked to develop a teaching style that is student focused. Over the years, I have tutored high school and college students in English, History and Bible courses. I have also mentored two inner city youths and assisted them when needed in their studies. I taught Principles of Management at Belmont University and thoroughly enjoyed that experience. I have written articles for a publication by Lifeway. I have also tutored many students in study skills.
I enjoy working one-on-one with students and tailoring my teaching style to their learning style. I am patient and easy going and enjoy engaging in lively discussions with the students. I am committed to making a difference in the lives of my students.
