I have enjoyed a unique educational background, having been required to study all academic disciplines as an undergraduate. I graduated with an AA Degree in Liberal Studies from Allan Hancock Community College. I then transferred to San Francisco State University where I earned my BA Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Sociology. Upon graduation, I began working as a Substitute Teacher for grades K-8 in Santa Maria, CA. During this time, I was responsible for teaching many subjects including English, math, music, history and physical education. I also conducted many small group tutoring sessions. I have taught and tutored hundreds of children while substitute teaching. I have found that my style is one which tries to involve the student in the learning process as much as possible. I love using volunteers to read aloud and participate in the learning process. I feel that treating each child with respect and as individuals increases their own abilities and improves their self-confidence as well.
