A Little Bit About Me...

I consider myself to be a "beginner" teacher as I have recently graduated college and received my license. I have spent roughly 500 hours in the field as a result of college course requirements, and I have successfully completed a 12 week internship (student teaching) experience. I have had the opportunity to work in many different subject areas and classroom settings with students of various backgrounds, ages, and learning styles.
I try to take a hands-on approach to teaching when possible. I find it helpful to use varied and often unusual objects and materials when teaching a lesson; it tends to make the material more memorable. However I am not above using the standard pencil/paper/textbook approach when needed.

I love working with children of all ages and I believe that all children should have an equitable education. I attended The Ohio State University and got my Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with a concentration in Early Childhood Development. After that I continued my education at Capital University to obtain my teaching license for PK-3 regular classroom education, as well as Intervention Specalist K-12 and a Reading Endorsment K-12.
I believe that every child should be given an equal chance to learn. If that means teaching a lesson three different ways to be sure to reach all my students, sometimes that is what it takes. Being flexible is very important in teaching, as it is important to be able to adapt to each student and each class, year to year. I have a wide variety of experiences in and out of the classroom with all different types of learners in all different age groups.
