A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that students do not learn the same way. My teaching style incorporates all learning styles. When teaching a lesson I believe in using secondary reading sources, technology, video clip and other creative outlets. I believe that you must motivate the student to learn not thrust curriculum at them hoping it will sink in. I have five years of experience working with troubled youth and students with disabilities.
I have been teaching English and History education for three years. I have experience on the 7th, 8th 9th and 10th grade levels. For the last three years my high school English courses have been centered on ACT prep. for the ACT/MME students take their junior year. As a degree holder in both writing and literature, and having worked with children in a professional capacity for several years, I have extensive knowledge of both writing, reading and editing techniques, but my ability to teach does not end with them. I've always had a passion for the arts, and teaching them is my favorite way of enjoying them. Over the years of my education and in my professional experiences, I've written all kinds of essays, research papers, research projects, grant proposals, short stories, poetry, plays, and even whole books.
