At our first session, I ask that each student complete a short quiz to determine their learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc). Every child learns differently and I believe that discovering what works best for each student is the first step towards success. Once we figure out what his/her learning style is, I cater to this. If they learn best by reading, I'll prepare worksheets based on what they're learning; if they're hands-on learners, I'll make an activity.

I have intend to make this my life's work and as such have almost always held teaching positions. I tutored fellow students while an undergraduate and after graduation I taught autistic students in math, reading, art, speech therapy and physical education for 5 years. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with children since I was 12 when I would babysit for relatives and neighbors. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science in Education specializing in Emotional Impairments and Learning Disabilities. I completed two years of practicum teaching covering all age ranges and learning styles while taking Special Education courses through Western. This past year I did two internships in the Kalamazoo Public School District. I have coached for the Special Olympics basketball program and participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters. While in High School I taught catechism for my church grades 2-4.
