I studied creative writing at the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville SC. There I studied poetry, play writing, grammar, editing, fiction, and creative nonfiction. I won two national scholastic writing awards for my writing. I also studied at Rice University which is a highly selective university in Houston Texas. I majored in sociology and also took many intensive English classes. While a student at Rice, I tutored several of my peers in both sociology and english. I believe that all students can learn if they are taught in a style that is most conducive to their learning style and motivations. Four years ago, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from a local university. I received a BS in Rehabilitation Studies. This degree prepared me to work with our special population. My ultimate desire was to work with children. Therefore, I returned to UNCG and obtained my License in Special Education K-12. Over the past four years, I have successfully worked in the public school system. I teach at the elementary level which allows me to teach Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
