I can relate best with the student/youth.

Very relaxed, easy going, friendly. I feel less pressure and non stressful settings help students learn better. They can relate to a younger person who is more in tune with youth and someone who understands them.
I attended Rufus King World IB High school in Milwaukee, Wi, one of the most prestigious inner city high schools in the country. I excelled in IB Geography, Chorus, and Theatre. I was one of those kids who never did any homework, but passed my tests. Everyone came to me for help on projects, homework, ect. I feel that I didn't fully utilize my strengths in school as I could have, so I would love to share that with those who need it now.

I love to work with students of all ages. I am a patient teacher and try to tailor my teaching style to the progress of my student. I prefer to promote understanding through the use of work sheets, tutorials, and real world examples, rather then simply relying on memorization. A Little Bit About Me...

I have held a strong passion for history since I was an undergrad at Radford University. As a graduate student at Hollins University I was able to study a broad spectrum of academic fields with an intense focus on history. I am currently employed at Virginia Western Community College as an adjunct professor of both World and American History. I am also currently applying to Virginia Tech for a PHD in the Study of Science and Technology on Society program. As both a student and teacher I have developed extensive writing and analytical skills. I feel I would be of a great benefit to younger students in preparing them for the college environment.

I am a Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years of accounting and finance experience. Although I have no formal teaching degree, I feel that I would be an excellent tutor. First, I have successfully trained many employees over the years. Second, my two sons, ages 21 and 19 graduated numbers 2 and 1 in their high school classes, respectively. Now, both are "straight A" students at the University of Tennessee. Here, I feel that I have lead by example.
