A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children, especially in a one-on-one style to really help them grasp and understand a concept. I know all children are capable of learning and some just need a little extra help. By working with your child one-on-one I will be able to really understand what it is your child is not understanding and figure out a way to help them understand it. I will try my very best to come up with fun and exciting lessons that will make your child want to learn. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have endorsements in Science, Language Arts, and Social Science. I student taught 1st grade and spent the 2008-2009 school year as a Teaching Assistant for two Kindergarten classrooms. During my time as a student teacher and teaching assistant I have worked with students individually, small groups, and as a whole group. I have a lot of experience with teaching reading using phonemic awareness and whole language instruction. I have developed lessons and strategies to meet each student's abilities and to provide them with the skills and confidence needed to become successful readers. Students have different learning styles and I have a lot of resources to meet the needs of any student.
