My comments on tutoring Reading : Many years of experience in teaching reading to first grade through college level students.

I began my career teaching music to students in grades K-8. I have always loved the Special Needs students and thus chose to pursue my Master's degree in the Special Education field. My first Special Ed. assignment was for ADHD and LD students in 7th grade Math and Language Arts. From there I have progressed to being the Lead teacher in inclusion settings as both the regular education teacher and the special education teacher. My comments on tutoring Reading : I am an avid reader, having read thousands of books. My reading interests are wide and varied, and involve numerous styles, from authors as wide-ranging as Mark Twain, James Joyce, Charles Dickens, Alexander Pope, and Chaucer, to name a few.

I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.
I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects.
