I'm Here to Help!!!

I have often thought about becoming a teacher and have been told by friends, families and previous instructors in my own learning I would make a good one but I feel my personality would be better served in a more laid back and less rigid atmosphere. I am very laid back, amiable and have a strong passion for what I've learned and what I do (the whole aspiring writer thing I mentioned earlier).
I am a twenty eighty year old graduate of the University at Albany where I received my Bachelors in English Lit. in 2011. I have no previous teaching or tutoring experience but that does not mean I lack the knowledge or skill necessary to help one learn and grow. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience as a teacher has nurtured within me a deep respect for children as thinkers, and ultimately "real" people. In my position at Spence's Farm, I was responsible for a group of 5-8 year olds. I enjoyed being with kids, who inspired me to observe and innovate, two talents that I had to perfect in order to develop fun and effective lesson plans and field trips. I also observed that childhood play and learning are interconnected fundamental ways. Excited at this discovery, I searched out other teaching opportunities. Because I enjoy and see the wonder in science and I like to show that to students. If they see a reason to want the knowledge, and see how it can expand their horizons, then they will be more open to learning. A common problem with individuals needing tutoring is that they sometimes do not think they have the "smarts" to learn the subject. My first objective is to show them they have the "stuff" to get it! For grammar, I would either find or create my own practice materials and we could go over whatever is necessary until I've decided that the student is making improvements or the student has succeeded.
