A Little Bit About Me...

I will eventually obtain my PhD in Medical Physics so that I can teach the subjects I have a passion for at the college level. I do have experience teaching high school students as well. I have a straight forward approach to teaching. I get to the point and cater my teaching approach to the individual since not everyone learns the same way. My teaching is simple and easy to understand, no complicated terms unless the student is ready.
I have over 5 years of tutoring experience. I independently tutored in Physics while in my Junior and Senior year earning a Bachelors in Physics and minor in Mathematics. I have extensive Math skills and taught Calculus, all levels, at the San Antonio College for several years. It was then that I found out how much I enjoyed tutoring Calculus. I also have a Masters of Science degree awarded from the UT Health Science Center in Medical Health Physics.

I believe there is a major difference between teaching the student how to get a good grade and mastering the fundamental concepts that control math and science. When helping a student with Algebra, it is critical to asses their basic skills in mathematical operations. With chemistry, physics and biology it is often a matter of increasing the student’s vocabulary and understanding of the complex terminology and relationships presented by the teacher and the classroom book. My teaching style is to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the student and then build a solid foundation of basic skills.
