Give Real life experience a try

Experience throughout school, work and personal experience dealing with the mentally challenged and dyslexia. my best friend had a son who was dyslexic and also he had ADD and I got him to trust me in babysitting and I taught him various things. I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. I also have an aunt who is mentally handicapped, and I love spending time with her she is a very giving person. They teach me and it is always a joy to work with them and give something back.
Hands on approaches mixed with worldly knowledge, and a very patient style.

My comments on tutoring Chemistry : I know chemistry, but I have only taken the general college chemistry courses.

I am a College Student working towards getting a Secondary Education Teaching degree in Biology and Chemistry. I want to eventually go on and teach at the University level. I am planning on going to the University of Utah and want to get a doctorates in Biology or Biochemistry. I have spent two years in the great land of Russia. I love the country and all the people. For the most part I am a smart cookie. I love life and try to learn as much as I can while I can.
Fun but serious.

Hello, my name is Lauren and I absolutely love tutoring! I have tutored since I was in high school (about 5 years of experience total)and more recently have worked as a Peer Tutor at Westminster College, as well as teaching private voice and piano lessons. As a biology major, I'm most experienced in science and math related areas, particularly general biology, general chemistry, statistics, algebra, and geometry. I am also very qualified to tutor ACT and SAT test prep, as I scored extremely high in all areas of the two tests, earning a 34 on the ACT and a 2190 on the SAT. I'm also qualified to tutor in several humanities areas, especially writing-a skill strongly emphasized by Westminster's intensive and selective Honors Program. I have also taken AP tests in English Literature (5), Human Geography (5), European History (4), and American History (4) and IB tests in English (6) an ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I think that I can teach what I really know, and Mathematics are the topic that I know the best, so with that in mind I am able to share my knowledge to anybody, since I am confident with the topics I understand, adding to this the fact that I like to teach something that I have done since I was in elementary school with my close friends and after to teach to adults in school for adults.
As a graduate students at the University of Utah at the Economics department, and also as a Civil Engineer I have been exposed to many professional presentations to explain technical projects, as well as theoretical topics especially at graduate level where different economics perspectives have to be explained. Finally as a Civil Engineer I have had the chance to develop my math skills with courses such as: Calculus I, II, III and Differential Equations, and Statistics.

Children have the ability to learn and as teachers we are there to help them progress in live to be better people and one who can support themselves out in the society

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is a very fulfilling experience, a special connection is made between teacher and student especially when understanding on the students part is reached. That is what makes it fulfilling, seeing the progress and understanding of the student develop. I believe everyone can learn, we all think differently and are unique but if presented in the right light all can comprehend any subject. I enjoy the challenge of helping students understand the material in a different light, figuring out which method of thinking works best for that individual student. My goal is to help them succeed.
I took two years out of my college career at BYU to serve a full time church mission in Ecuador. In Ecuador I learned to speak Spanish fluently and while there taught multiple hours everyday to educate others about the gospel. Although this may not be directly related with school the teaching ... read more

I believe that the basis of learning is understanding the principles of the subject. If a student has a thorough knowledge of the basics, then he does not need to rely on root memorization or luck to pass classes. I believe teaching and learning the basics are far easier than simply attempting to pass a test or earn a decent grade. All subjects in the end build upon each other, a strong foundation helps not only with the current class, but with all future classes as well. Also, everyone has the ability to do well, and should be afraid of classes or subjects that are traditionally seen as dificult.
Academics and higher education are very much a driving force in my life. I enjoy learning new skills and learning about new subjects, also sharing that knowledge with others. I earned my first Bachelor's degree in Linguistics in 2006, and went on to teach English as a Second Languag ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a degree in Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry. I enjoy teaching and I have worked as a substitute teacher for two years. I am also fluent in portuguese and I have taught english to non-native people. I have several years of laboratory experience which I believe enables me to teach children real world examples of how science works. I believe this also can prepare them to think analytically.
I enjoy teaching and I have taught all grades and various subjects during my time as a substitute teacher. I think it is important for students to ask questions. This is important for them to be able to learn effectively. I think science is important for students to be able to learn how to think analytically and to develop a curiosity of the world around them.

I have been a serious student of math and physics now for the past three and a half years. I am in my senior year at the University of Utah (U) where I am finishing up degrees in mathematics and physics. I am currently doing research in condensed matter physics, specifically magnetic resonance experiments. I have tutored students in the past in areas such as algebra, trigonometry, calculus and physics. I feel very comfortable in the areas of algebra, trigonometry, calculus, ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, introductory analysis, classical mechanics, electrodynamics and introductory quantum mechanics.
Math and science have been a passion of mine for a long time now. The two most common complaints I have heard about mathematics is “I am just not good at math” and “you don‘t use it in real life”. It is the responsibility of the teacher to understand how ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

During my education experience at Northern Arizona University, I learned early on that I have a passion for education and for teaching. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude at the top of my class. Through observing and student teaching experiences I learned techniques for teaching students science, English, math, reading, art and music. I also gained valuable grammatical skills through writing various research papers and essays during my studies.
I absolutely 100% believe that ALL children can learn! I believe that it is the teacher's responsibility to provide a healthy learning environment, one in which the student feels safe, secure, accepted and valued. I believe in self-fulfilling prophecies. If a child is encouraged to learn and knows that they can - they will. I feel very privileged to have had an opportunity to have created these types ... read more

My teaching style is actually very fluid and relates specifically to the people that I am currently teaching. Every person learns differently, as such, a wide range of teaching styles is required to teach a wide range of people. As a tutor, I was able to develop my teaching skills in a wide range of areas (including: analogies, step/progression, fundamental-based teaching and increasingly narrowed focus) that have helped me teach many different people with many different backgrounds not only math, but also physics and biology as well.
While a Biological Sciences major at Brigham Young University Idaho I took several different math courses that were above and beyond those required for my degree. I excelled at each of the classes that I took, and was actually recruited by my calculus teacher to become a statistics and calculus tutor at the university math lab. I worked for 4 consecut ... read more

My teaching style is relaxed and friendly. If the student doesn't like working with me, then the effort is for naught. Once I build a rapport with the student, I try to impress on them the crucial nature of the subject, without being overbearing. Finally, we delve into the material, celebrating success and ferreting out the problems that may confound us.
After completing my MS in geophysics I went to work in the oil business. I found this to be morally troubling and turned to teaching as a way to give back to the community. To my delight I have found that I love to teach, I connect well with kids and they seem to enjoy my teaching style. I have been teaching for eight years and I look forward to many more.

A teacher should treat their students as consumers. As consumers those students need to have their needs and expectations met. Every student learns differently and expects the instructor to be the expert in the subject matter. Being that expert the instructor should have and show a passion for the subject that makes the students want to know more. Each student is a valuable member of the class and as such has valuable experience and opinions that can enrich the class. The instructor should provide ample opportunity for student questions and discussion. The educator’s role goes beyond delivering the curriculum. The instructor should make the learning relevant to real life experiences. The instructor should provide differentiated instruction, timely feedback, and should aid in the students’ development academically and professionally. Students should be aspired to be quality teachers a ... read more
