I have extensive experience in mentoring minors and persons with intellectual disabilites for 3 years. In highschool and college, I regularly tutored highschool and college students in algebra, highschool chemistry, and english.
I am very patient and reassuring to students and wait for them to get the answer on their own when tutoring mathematics. I show them how to do it first, then let them try, and then re-explain. We would continue this repetitively with different problems until they can do it independently. It is also important to listen very carefully as to what they are saying.

Instead, I supplemented their lessons and focused on developing critical thinking skills and stressed one on one interactions with the students. With history, the real teaching comes not in the memorization of facts, but in gaining an understanding of context, critical thinking, and the ability to approach the subject with a degree of relativity.
