Since November 2009, I’ve been teaching general biology at Logan-Hocking High School in Logan, Ohio. I have developed lesson plans, managed classroom learning, doing all the things any other science teacher would. In the summer of 2009, I worked in Albany, New York for the Albany Pine Bush Preserve conducting surveys in the preserve for the endangered Karner Blue Butterfly. All the assigned tasks required knowledge of general biology, especially in plant natural history. I graduated in May 2009 from Muskingum University where I obtained a B.S. in biology. When a question is asked, I am not going to simply just tell the student the answer. I would want them to think it out and try and figure it out for themselves. I would however guide them in the right direction and even ask them other questions they may know in order for them to figure out the intial problem. I feel that these types of interactions are a more effective way of learning. Also, writing things down helps tremedously because not only are you thinking it, but you're seeing it and reading it as well. I am a very easy person to get along with, and I am also very encouraging. I enjoy helping others whether it's in an academic environment or not.
