A Little Bit About Me...

My bachelors is in Elementary Education, but my experiences are in middle school. I started my teaching experience in Salisbury Maryland where I did all of my student teaching. The two sixth grade classrooms that I engaged in were totally different from each other; different demographics, different backgrounds, different school cultures, and the list could go on. Each school however did share one thing in common; the ability to throw curve balls at you at every turn and neither schools fell short of an eventful day. I had tremendous mentors and I was awarded Maryland Teacher of Promise in 2017. For the past two years, I have been in charge of my own classroom of seventh graders. Every child can learn, so every child deserves to learn.

I teach in the way of Scaffolding. I give the learner all the assistance they need until they no longer need it any more. I start by giving a lot of cues and help with each step. Then I slowly take the training wheels off and each time, I let them show me more and more what they can do with out the help. I hope to create leaders.
I have been teaching children younger than myself since I started teaching Sunday school classes and became a adolescent influence in my previous youth group. I new all along I was going to be a teacher. I have been tutoring my younger nephews since they are now in grade level courses. I have also had experience in the classroom as observing mentor teachers and assisting them in lesson plan creations. I will be enrolled in methods course this coming fall for my Elementary Education Professional Teaching program.

Praxis Exam is one of my top subjects! Have successfully passed various praxis testing; Have tutored my daughter whom has passed the 1st time on her PA testing for teaching.

I have been working with the education field for 13 years. I have primarily worked in special education which has given the unique experience o teaching or co-teaching all subject areas. I am currently the special education coordinator a charter school in Philadelphia. Prior to working in Philadelphia, I taught social studies, math, English and GED preparation for adults. A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate at Muhlenberg College, I had the opportunity to serve as a peer tutor in mathematics to incoming freshmen. I enjoyed the experience of helping other students succeed. I have a bachelor's degree in Physical Science which allowed me to gain knowledge in the fields of mathematics and physics. I decided to further my education in the field of Applied Mathematics. During my undergraduate career, I student taught ninth grade English at Glasgow High School. I taught five 9CP courses and 1 SAT Prep course. So I have experience working with students and I am very skilled in teaching English Language Arts concepts.
