As a wildlife biologist for 15 years, I spent a good portion of my career giving presentations to a wide variety of audiences and educating people one-on-one about environmental issues. I have both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. I recently underwent a program through the Department of Higher Education to become certified to teach 7-12th grade science. I am easy going, energetic, very passionate (especially when teaching calculus and physics), and engaging. In most cases it takes only a few sessions and students are having fun. I believe that most students can understand mathematics with a proper explanation. For example, the order of operations is usually presented to students without explanation for its existence. This gives the false sense that it is an arbitrary rule. I enjoy sharing my understanding to students, but I also enjoy providing a role model for my students.
