The first thing that I try to do is get to know my client, mainly focusing on what they both like and dislike about school. Then we narrow it down even further to the subject that they are having problems in. I ask them what they think the problem is, find out what the school/teacher thinks the problem is (through review of their coursework including past homework and tests) and come up with a solution that will benefit the student, teacher, and parent to improve and fix the situation.

As I have described earlier in my experience I have had many years contributing to the education of my siblings. Helping to make flash cards, and finding ways to cater to their learning types. My younger three siblings are very different, so their learning styles are no exception to this.
