As a college student, I wanted to help other struggling students as well as polish my own skills. I decided that tutoring students would be a great job to earn money and achieve some personal goals. In addition, I played college sports so my students were other athletes. I have tutored students in math, accounting, finance, English, and various other business classes.
My teaching style is very hands on. I like to work the problems out with the students and show them how to do each step. I love questions and I love for the student to fully understand. I personally prefer one on one interaction for tutoring . I would first determine areas which need to strengthened. ThenI would emphasize these areas in the instruction process.Then I would assign work (exercises,problems,questions). These would then be reviewed to determine the students grasp of the material.These areas would be worked on until the student had an adequate grasp of the material. Accounting is a subject that is learned by doing.Certainally a student has to read the material,but actual hands on doing is where real learning and retention take place.Most of my tutoring hs been volunteering , but generally with minimal instruction those I have assisted have increased there scores 15% to 20%.

My freshman year at Clemson I tutored 7th graders in math. I was also a tutor in high school for a k-6 school for children with low-income families. It has always been a passion of mine to help others with grasping a subject.
