A teacher never stops teaching, and never ceases learning.

I have been a special education teacher for 26 years with the Davidson County Schools. I have taught all grade levels from kindergarten through high school. I am currently a teacher at South Davidson High School in Denton, NC. I have worked in self-contained and resource classrooms; however, most of my experience has been in the inclusion classrooms with a co-teaching setting. I have taught language arts and English for all of my 26 years in the education field. I currently serve high school students, both special needs students and non-special needs students, in English grades 9-12. English is my passion, especially literature, and I enjoy bringing it into the lives of students. I also assist in math and foreigh language (Spanish). A Little Bit About Me...

Over the years I have become a diligent student of the college essay, journalism and non-fiction writing. As a literature major, I was trained how to analyze stories and ideas through discussion and then how to put ideas into written form. As a creative writing minor I was trained how to edit sentences taking out any unnecessary phrases and words. In addition, as a senior, I did an internship at the UNCW writing center where I helped college students with editing their papers. My passion for clear thinking and concise writing has only grown since college. After college I spent a year teaching high school students the Bible as a youth pastor I learned how to ask students questions on their thinking level.
