A Little Bit About Me...

Coming from a family of educators, I knew from an early age that I would become a teacher myself; therefore, all the steps taken to prepare for my professional life have been to enable me to be the best teacher I can be. I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of South Alabama. I received classroom teaching experience at a local middle school and as a university instructor. I currently have an extremely rewarding position with the Mobile Housing Board developing, coordinating, and instructing GED preparation classes. With this program I teach GED concepts and both group and individually tutor numerous students. I take pride in the fact that 100% of the students I referred to the official GED test obtained their GED. College students are difficult to work with because they think they know it all. This was a blessing in disguise because it taught me not only to learn different ways to tutor a student, but also to figure out through body language and little signals as to whether or not they were actually comprehending the information. Teaching is not just giving information and hoping they retain it.
