I first discovered my love of teaching when I was in the Boy Scouts teaching younger scouts skills like building a fire or pitching a tent. In high school, I would tutor my classmates in English, a subject in which I have always excelled. I am most interested in studying history and geography, and I long to share what I have learned. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000. We then moved to Wisconsin where I taught in various after school programs until my 2 children were old enough for preschool. I then went back part time and taught 4 K until my 3rd child was born in 2005. Throughout this entire time I tutored various children ages 8 - 15 years if age.

I love helping people. I feel that a student can always teach a student better than a teacher. I graduated in August 1996 with a BBA in Finanace but then decided that I wanted to pursue Accounting so I went back to school to obtain my second BBA. I've worked as the VP of Internal Audit and Credit for a Federal Savings Bank, the Director of Finance for a National Bank, a Senior Financial Analyst, and the CFO/Controller for a smaller company. I am well versed in any financial or accounting matter than you may need help with.
I believe in using humor and matter of fact conversation style is the best way to teach. If you get someone interested in what you have to say then they will usually want to learn it and retain it almost effortlessly. That is the method I have used to train all of subordinates over the years and it has always worked out. Relate the lesson to something the student cares about.
