I can help you master geography and earth science!

I have five years teaching geography at the community college level. I mostly taught physical geography (more like earth science), but also taught some human geography as well. I have had multiple short term experiences in the field that I believe make my teaching of geography, biology, and earth science more real and not abstract. As a teacher I always used technology and field trips whenever possible.
I like to bring the material "down to earth" by using examples and making comparisons between the material being taught and what the student is familiar with in the own immediate world. When teaching geography and earth science I use many examples of places with the students home region. Southern California is great for that!

My comments on tutoring Marine Biology : Was captain for 3 years in high school of National Oceans Science Bowl which is an academic competition in Oceanography which encompasses Marine Biology

Tutored many students during high school and I am currently a 1st year Chemical Engineering student at University of California, Berkeley. In high school, I tutored AP Chemistry, many levels of math, and many other science courses often. I also worked with younger students in middle school on many of the general subjects.
I prefer one on one tutoring so I can adjust how I tutor to each students needs, but I have also done group tutoring before. All in all, I personally want to work in whatever environment will help the student learn most effectively.

GUIDE ON THE SIDE WHO ADDRESSES ALL INTELLIGENCES AND LEARNING STYLES.
MORE THAN 15 YEARS TEACHING IN PUBLIC, PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND ONE-ON-ONE AND SMALL GROUP TUTORING EXPERIENCE. No matter what the subject is, teaching is an art, and like every art, teaching requires a great understanding of the subject and outstanding communication skills( intrinsic and extrinsic). I like to break down whatever skill I'm teaching in the simplest form at first. This means explaining the concept of the skill in a way that the student can understand what it is we are trying to do. I also try to use a pictorial representation of the skill if that is needed. After that I'll show them how I work a concept with that particular skill in order to allow them to see firsthand what the thought process is and the steps that are needed to use that particular skill. In addition, I love teaching in an environm ... read more

highly motivated German student-teacher

I am very motivated. I will give my best in tutoring.
I am a German student for biology and chemistry and want to become a teacher. I have done my middle examinations here in Germany which are comparable to a Bachelor Degree. I have helped several pupils to get better marks at school here in Germany - in English and Mathmatics. I have done several internships I had to do at schools in Germany. My best experience was when I did two chemistry lessons on two days at a class in its last year at a German college (German word: Gymnasium) - on the second day (after my lesson of the first day) five pupils from other courses wanted to join my lesson - in their free period! Voluntary! The other pupils most have told them something positive about me! I was very surprized and happy.

I recently graduated from California State University Long Beach (CSULB) with a BS in Earth Science and a 3.5 GPA. My degree has provided me with a firm understanding of science and mathematics. I have completed coursework such as calculus I, II and III, calculus based physics and general chemistry. Starting fall 2010 I will be attending CSULB for a master’s degree. This will add to my knowledge of science and mathematics. During my college career I have tutored numerous colleagues and friends in science and mathematics.
I enjoy tutoring because it gives me a chance to help someone. For many students math and science is a very difficult area. I believe a strong foundation in math and science can lead to success in the future. Throughout my college experience there were numerous courses that were very challenging for me. I therefore understand the difficulties associated with learni ... read more
