I love teaching all ages and skill levels. I adjust my teaching style to the individual - some people are visual learners or oral learners or hands-on learners. I teach by example and try to encourage my students to understand "why" rather than just "how."
I began college as an engineering major, so I have background in advanced mathematics and physics. I went on to change my major to psychology where I gained knowlege of social and behavioral sciences, as well as research technologies and statistical analysis. Since graduating college with a B.A. in psychology, I have worked as a psychology researcher, accounting assistant, and in 3 different roles for an international pharmaceutical company. When I tutor, I first strive to make the session interesting and fun. Before beginning, I would strive to identify which types of learning the student excels in and focus on them. I also make sure to change the learning styles and activities often to avoid students from becoming tired of an exercise.

A Little Bit About Me...

The most important thing to me is making sure each child is able to learn in a manner in which they feel comfortable. Each person's learning style is as unique as the individual themselves. So, I like to get input from the student as to how they would like lesson plans and exercises to be implemented. I don't believe that there are children who can't reach their fullest potential as long as there is a teacher who is willing to put in the extra measures that are necessary.
Due to my undergraduate experiences at NCAT, I was able to develop new skills while enhancing the ones that I already possessed. Over the course of my professional career, I have spent 22 of my 25 years as a 4th grade teacher. This was a goal of time since childhood, having been inspired by my own 4th grade teacher. I still love this age and remain inspired by my own students.
