A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and do my best to make learning fun and easy for my pupils. I approach lessons by letting the student realize how and why the lesson is important and how it relates to their lives. I firmly believe everyone can learn; the style in which they learn may differ from others, but given the correct approach, all teachers/tutors can be successful.
With my Bachelor's degree, I began tutoring through Reading Success and conducted private tutoring of Georgia History. I progressed to teaching English, Spanish, and some Special Education Resource classes at the High School level, and continued to teach lower level English classes at a local college along with reading in an Adult Continuing Education program through another college. My writing skills have been sharpened as I edited and wrote articles for newsletters, newspaper releases, and in an administrative capacity.

I have a varied educational and professional background with experience in teaching students in several venues. In high school, I tutored math and reading to elementary students. I taught reading and religion immediately after graduation in 1991. As a young professional, I taught economics with the Junior Achievement program. My needs for additional business training lead me to work on a business degree with a focus on accounting. I coached youth soccer for four years and later went on to coach high school soccer. I hold both a recreational and youth coaching license from SCYSA. I currently tutor youth in reading and data interpretation.

Since elementary school, I have known the value of a good education and I have always had a strong drive and love for learning. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science and a master's degree in Applied Exercise Physiology, which has allowed me to attain knowledge in diverse areas of science. I enjoy teaching children and get great pleasure from helping them to learn new concepts. It is very exciting to see the glow in the eyes of a child when he has realized that he understands what we are studying. I believe each child is an individual and learns in his own way.
